Steve Mitchellsteve head shot

It's hard to say from where Steve Mitchell, guitar and bass teacher at rpm dance, originates. The son of an Air Force NCO, he's been around the world! - calling four countries and at least six states his home. Now, planted in Suffolk Virginia with his wife Renée Perry Mitchell and (soon to be) two children, he is happy to be an East Coast resident.

Steve studied music theory and ear training at the University of New Mexico and is a self-taught guitarist/bassist with more than two and a half decades of experience in live performance and studio recording.

As a professional musician, he performed for years in nightclubs throughout Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and western Texas, honing his playing skills as a guitar-slinging frontman. He has co-written and produced demos for several local recording artists in New Mexico and Nevada. He also directed music as a worship leader/pastor at various churches from Albuquerque, NM to Las Vegas, NV and Suffolk, VA; traveling and performing with various musical outreaches from Oregon to New Jersey.

Steve has been teaching private guitar and bass lessons since 2003.

Over the course of his musical career, Steve has been fortunate to work with many notable recording and performing artists.

CD Cover Art CD Cover Art Steve also writes, produces and records his own original music.

He produced a CD of all original worship music entitled Four Day Man and co-produced his wife Renée's all original self-titled CD.

Through Steve's experience, rpm dance offers personalized, experienced and FUN training for future guitarists and bassists as well as musical editing for dance competitions or gymnastic routines. Steve is excited to have the opportunity to invest in the lives of Virginia's up and coming performing artists.
